Modern Bike Shorts   by Elisa

We had (well actually only goes so far as the road) straight to the top of Mount Shasta made when the subject of old-school bike shorts came. In those days I was still his fist on the road training for marathons, blind to the tribulations of cyclists. My Mount Shasta riding partner was the real hero of yesterday.

He’s the guy who through the days of wool bike shorts had lived.

You know. . . the old wool bike shorts, which were washed in cold water. . . If you ever wanted to squeeze into them again. Even with the utmost care they crept further and further up to and after squeezing all the life out of the legs.

It is rumored that the entire Speedo company founded by a cyclist’s bike shorts wool was washed in hot water.

So what we have to enjoy modern improvements in the world of bike shorts?

An upgrade in material

The most obvious upgrade is also the aspect of modern bike shorts that the freshman most nervous. Namely. . . Spandex. Solder bumps and improper roles of adipose tissue. Spandex is like the lyrics, “Nowhere To Run and it’s No Place To Hide”.

The spandex is used in bike shorts come in two strengths. You have 8 ounces, and you have 6 ounces. There is not much difference between the two. Eight ounces of spandex costs a bit more to the cyclist and the massive thighs to squeeze tighter.

Six vs. Eight-panel panel

In the bad old days of bike shorts were inflexible materials, namely the aforementioned wool. If you have not noticed that part of human anatomyin and around the unseemly parts is full of curves. This is not rigid fabric-friendly.

After the invention of the wheel, and utilizing fire, the greatest minds of humanity this problem started. Their solution. . . Multi-paneled bike shorts.

Additional panels for more form-fitting conformation made. If it were not for the irritation of the seams, we may have seen shorts that looked like the most complicated quilt grandma.

In any case, eight panels was better than six. But now that modern materials can stretch to the moon and back again, this issue is not so critical for comfort or function. But it is still very important for prestige.

A piece of spandex could very likely mean the cover sections of two cyclists are very close together, virtually eliminating the need for a variety of boards. However, there are veteran cyclists to eight panel bike shorts.

Going For Broke

Some bike-shorts cost $ 30 and some cost $ 275. But what if the $ 275 bike shorts are actually cheaper than the cheap? Huh?

Here is how you sell your spouse at some $ 275 Assos bib shorts. Remember that the Assos bib shorts last for 18 ‘biking’ years (in chronological times seven years), while the $ (one divided by seven chronological years) 30-dollar-shorts for the duration of a “mouse” year.

The Assos bib costs a little more than $ 2 per year, while the $ 30 shorts cost a whopping $ 210 dollars per year. To tell me. . . who would be so foolish to buy something other than the $ 275 Assos cycling shorts?

Specialized functions

Biking shorts are cut differently than the pants favored installer. The waist is higher in the back and later in thebefore. As the cyclist spends much time bent over, like the plumber, cycling shorts includes a storm of wind from their attacks on the butt crack, even in the fiercest headwind.

A plumber’s customers should be so lucky.

Waist-strings should be wider than the G string on the guitar, so they do not cut into your gut. Most bike shorts have an elastic waistband instead of a string. Some, like my Hind shorts could not decide, so they put an elastic waist string available. I think you can have both.

Leg grippers are sticky tape on the inside of the short legs. They serve to your efforts short ride up your leg to frustrate more pressure on the abdomen.

Funky Bib Shorts

Tights (bike shorts with a built suspenders) keep a constant pull upwards so that the step has liner tightly against the lower regions. This is important because bunching or rubbing the crotch material is a nuisance after a few hours of riding.

A face down on the tights is that they make it more difficult to urinate while driving. Well, not while actually riding, but more accurate, if a break during a ride. Bib shorts pants and non-carriers equally well in terms of urination during the trip.

The chamois insert

A good argument could be that the ultimate function of the bike is just to keep everything aligned to the crucial step successfully liner between the saddle and rider.

In the past, the liner is usually made from sheepskin. It’s main feature was the driver of all these seams protect holding together the many woolSlabs. Things have changed.

Today, sutures are not such a big problem and artificial materials have surpassed the lowly sheepskin.

Each bike shorts manufacturer has an inner lining that outperforms all others developed. It is up to you to decide which is most convenient for you personally.

You can usually make your decision soon after you’ve ridden in them long enough to keep you in return for replacement or refund.

Beware not breathable inserts like gel pads. Unnamed experts claim that if the step can not breathe, moisture build up, causing an irritation like a diaper rash.

While I can argue that the step is not really breathe in and out, they have a valid point.

Be Brave

So get brave, you suck your gut, you assign yourself carefully, and pull on your upholstered modern, itch-proof bike shorts.
